Common operating modes of filter presses:
Semi automatic mode: Press the start button, and the cycle from closing the filter chamber to opening ends in automatic mode. If the next cycle requires pressing the start button again.
Automatic mode: Press the start button, and the filter press will work one cycle after another until the stop button is pressed.
Manual mode: When applied to equipment maintenance, the filter press can run or stop at any point during the circulation process.
The common faults of the filter press are summarized as follows:
1、 The pressure plate of the filter press is damaged
When the sludge is too thick or leaves dry blocks, the feed inlet will be blocked. At this point, there is no medium between the filter plates, only the pressure of the hydraulic system itself remains. At this point, due to long-term pressure, the board itself is easily damaged.
When the feed is insufficient or contains inappropriate solid particles, it can also cause excessive stress on the board and frame itself, leading to damage.
3. If the outlet is blocked by solids, or if the feed or outlet valves are closed during startup, there is no pressure leakage, resulting in damage.
When the filter plate is not cleaned, sometimes the medium may leak. Once there is a leak, the edges of the board frame will be washed one by one into small ditches. A large amount of medium leakage will cause the pressure to not increase and prevent the formation of mud cakes.
2、 Water seepage between the plate and frame of the filter press
1. Low hydraulic pressure
2. Folds and holes on the filter cloth
3. There is a block on the sealing surface.
3、 The shape of the filter press does not form a filter cake or the filter cake is uneven
There are many reasons for the uneven or uneven shape of the filter cake. This phenomenon may be caused by insufficient or too thin feed or blockage. The causes of these faults should be carefully investigated.
4、 The filter plate moves slowly or easily falls off
Excessive oil stains and stains on the guide rod can also cause the filter plate to move slowly or even fall off.
5、 Hydraulic system malfunction
The hydraulic system of the plate and frame filter press mainly provides pressure. When the oil filling amount in chamber a increases, the piston moves to the left to press the filter plate to seal it. When the oil filling amount in chamber B increases, the piston moves to the right and the filter plate releases. Due to high manufacturing accuracy, the hydraulic system has almost no faults. Just pay attention to daily maintenance. However, due to wear and tear, oil leaks occur around the year. Common hydraulic faults include inability to maintain pressure and improper hydraulic cylinder pushing. The main reasons for not being able to maintain pressure are oil leakage, O-ring wear, and abnormal operation of the solenoid valve. The reason for improper propulsion of the hydraulic cylinder is the obvious sealing of internal air.
6、 Poor separation of filter cake and filter cloth
1. Check if the fluidity or concentration of the filter material has changed;
2. Check if the dosage is appropriate;
3. Check whether the capacity and pressure of the water supply pump are suitable;
4. The filter cloth is stuck and the mud cake cannot be removed properly.
7、 Insufficient filling of filter chamber or empty chamber
Insufficient filling of the filter chamber or cavity will result in pressure imbalance on both sides of the filter plate. Excessive pressure difference on both sides can damage the filter plate, mainly due to channel blockage. Check the sludge channel inside the frame and the sludge pipeline of the diaphragm pump. Common obstacles are small pieces of cloth or filter cloth folding to block the channel, or excessive sludge viscosity, resulting in no backwashing of the pipeline when stopping the pressure filtration, leading to pipeline blockage.
8、 Filter cloth folding
The mud cake adheres to the filter cloth (incomplete discharge of mud), or the suspension spring tension of the filter cloth is insufficient, resulting in the filter cloth folding.
9. Filtrate turbidity
After the filter cloth is damaged, the mud enters the filter plate from the crack and is discharged from the outlet hole, causing the filtrate to become turbid. At this point, filtering cannot be performed. Check the filter cloth at the source of the turbid liquid.
